Dock20 is an organization of teachers and innovators in higher education. The heart of Dock20 lies in creating conditions for great learning. For students, teachers and managers we create free-zones where they learn freely and collaboratively, not hindered by daily routines and schedules. That gives inspiration, energy and tools for initiating meaningful change. This way we co-create tomorrow’s education.

We develop challenging minors, summer schools and other learning journeys that impact students’ personal lives and professional choices.

Your Ideal Classroom

Waarom Your Ideal Classroom?

Co-creating futureproof education
What is it?
A design school for teachers, managers and other educational professionals who would like to co-create and develop their new curriculum.
Dock20 facilitates this process by innovative design labs, leading taskforces, creating prototypes, organizing expeditions and developing didactic skills and competences of teachers who will start the new program with students.
There seems to be a lack of collective time to sustain developing education programs. In this Curriculum Design School, it is our ambition to stimulate co-creating, to translate social developments into courses and programs and to strengthen the connection between students, work field and schools.
For teachers, program designers, managers and other education professionals, who like to spend collective time to renew their courses and make their education future-proof.

Entrepreneur in heart and soul
I am an entrepreneur in heart and soul. The enterprises I’ve started have a strong focus on new ways of learning, sustainability and innovation. I have a keen interest in supporting the emergence of a new paradigm for education and bring that into reality by developing new learning methods for education. Together with a network of freelancing education experts we create experimental learning environments for universities, such as the Summer School.
Key questions I work with are: Why and how are systems changing? How does the bigger picture looks like? What new systems are emerging? How can we cope with change? How can you awaken, develop and stimulate your leadership skills? What is your role in all this?
The Indiana Jones of Learning
Do you want to go on a learning journey with me? I travelled through all kinds of educational institutes. First as a student, now as an educator. And also as a researcher on leadership, community and sustainability. I discovered that learning takes place everywhere and always. This means that what you encounter in your job, can be as valuable as what you read in your textbook.
Personally, I find it challenging to bring those worlds together. I am passionate about educating the future professionals of the world. Doing this by designing learning adventures that take you out of your comfort zone. By creating meaningful dialogues, meeting interesting people and work on challenging assignments. This all lead to more understanding and a better world. Since 2011 I have been part of the Dock20 network.
Chris Jan Geugies
Let’s make learning meaningful
I am passionate about learning and education. Building learning environments that inspire, energize, and connect people is what I most love to do. That is because I am convinced everyone has an internal drive to learn and to develop. I am at my best in creating an environment that motivates and triggers that drive.
To make our education future proof, we need other ways of learning. Both as a teacher at Hogeschool Leiden and as a social entrepreneur at Dock20, I therefore constantly try to be innovative. Not because new is always better, but because by innovating we can provide more meaning to our education. Let’s engage and make learning more meaningful!
